Step 1: Window Inspection
The first thing you need to do is inspect your windows to determine if a Window Sash Replacement Kit is all you need or if it’s time to replace the entire window assembly including the window frame and window sill.
Step 2: Measure the Window Opening
Before you purchase or order your new window sash replacement kit, carefully measure the existing sash opening. Measure the distance from Jamb to Jamb to determine the width. To measure the height; you will need to open the bottom sash and measure from the point where the exterior of the lower sash meets the window sill vertically to where the interior of the top sash contacts the window frame.
Step 3: Determine the Window Sill Angle
The standard angle of most window sills is 14 degrees. It is a good idea to confirm this by measuring the window sill angle with a protractor or angle level. You will need all of these measurements when you place your order for new window sash replacement kits.
